HER CAMPUS MEDIA SOCIAL POSTS
Challenge:
I was responsible for taking the design skills that I have been learning and improving over the past few years and applying them to my internship. The internship I worked at is Her Campus Media. “Her Campus Media is the #1 media portfolio for college students and Gen Z”. Under the Her Campus brand, there are other brands within. Their brands are Her Campus, Spoon University, College Fashionista, InfluenceHer Collective, and Generation Hired. Each brand has its own blog site and social media. Throughout my time at this internship, I was tasked to design social media posts for @hercampus and @spoonuniversity. I designed social posts for their “Signs As…." series. The social posts were Illustration based.
Solution:
Before I started this internship, I was not the biggest fan of illustrating. This internship has helped me grow my illustration skills and be more confident in my designs. For the first two social posts, I did all of the illustrations on Procreate using my iPad, then brought all of them into Illustrator to make the social post with the brand fonts and colors. I followed the criteria that were given to me for the coloring of the backgrounds. For the third post, I challenged myself to only use Illustrator for all of the Illustrations of the celebrities. It was difficult to get the hang of illustrating while using the pen tool, but as I got the hang of it, the celebrities look more realistic in this illustration style.
